What Wabi does today: a short guide

Wabi is a free task app for people who share work with others, such as a team, a client or a family. This post describes what the app does today in plain terms, so you can decide whether it fits the way you work.

What is Wabi?

Wabi is a task management app built around lists. You can keep lists for yourself, share lists with other people and see both kinds side by side. It runs on iPhone, Android and the web at app.wabi.do. The app is made by nSof LTD.

Wabi focuses on a few everyday questions: who is doing what, where the discussion about a task is and what needs attention first. There are no boards to arrange and no filters to build. For many teams and households, a clear shared list is enough.

Shared lists

Any list can be shared. You invite a person, and they open the list with everything already in it. From then on, you both work from the same list. It shows what is due and what comes next, and it looks the same for everyone in it.

You can have as many lists as you need, for example one for the house, one for a client and one for a trip. A list can start as private and become shared later, when other people need to be involved. If someone no longer needs access, removing them from the list removes their access to it and to its tasks.

Shared lists work well for situations like these:

A small team tracking action items after a meeting
A freelancer keeping a separate list for each client
Two people planning a move or a renovation
A family shopping list that anyone in the family can add to

A chat inside every task

Every task in Wabi has its own conversation. You can ask a question, reply to one and attach files such as images, PDFs and documents. The discussion stays with the task for as long as the task exists.

This solves a common problem. The details that explain a task are often in a separate chat or email thread, and they are hard to find later. When the conversation is part of the task, anyone who opens it can read the history. That includes someone who takes over the work weeks later.

Private tasks inside shared lists

Sharing a list does not have to mean sharing everything in it. You can mark a task as private, and then only you can see it. The task stays in the shared list, in your view of it, and nobody else in the list can see it.

This is useful when most of a list concerns everyone and a few items concern only you. A gift idea in a family list or a personal reminder in a team list can stay where it belongs. You do not need a second, hidden list somewhere else. Nothing changes a task's visibility on its own, so a task you marked private stays private.

A home screen sorted by what is due

When you open Wabi, the home screen puts what is due at the top, across all the lists you are in. You do not need to set up a view first. The order comes from the due dates already on your tasks.

Each list also shows its next task. You can often see what is coming in a list without opening it.

On your phone and on your computer

Your lists belong to your account, so the same lists appear on your phone, on a tablet and in a browser. You can add a task on your phone in the morning and continue working on it at your desk later. On a computer, open app.wabi.do and sign in with the same account you use on your phone.

What does it cost?

Wabi is free. There is no trial period, no credit card to enter and no charge for each person you share a list with. The pricing page explains what that includes.

How to get started

Download Wabi from the App Store or Google Play, or open it in a browser at app.wabi.do. You sign in with an account you already have, such as Google or Apple, so there is no registration form. Then create your first list, add a few tasks and invite the people involved. Adding a task works much like sending a message: open the list and type.

If you are moving from another tool, start small. Choose one area of shared work, such as a weekly team checklist or a household list, and use Wabi for that first. It is easier to judge an app with one real list than with a demo.
